日經新聞8月1日報導，日系光學大廠Hoya將進軍智慧手機用相機模組市場，Hoya已研發出全球首款同時具備光學變焦(3倍變焦)及光學防手振功能的產品，並預計於2014年透過菲律賓工廠開始進行量產。報導指出，Hoya所研發的智慧手機用相機模組產品尺寸為40.6x11.4x6mm，可應用於現行販售的大半智慧手機產品上；該款相機模組產品搭載1,310萬畫素CMOS影像感測器，和現有的產品相比其在黑暗場所的拍攝精度提高了4倍、F值(顯示在黑暗場所的拍攝效能)為2.7-4.8。

據報導，在輕便型數位相機用相機模組市場上，Hoya為全球最大廠、其市佔率高達約4成，惟因智慧手機普及導致數位相機用需求年年縮小，故Hoya擬將事業範圍擴大至智慧手機市場，以擴大事業收益。據報導，在智慧手機用相機模組市場上，目前由台灣大立光(3008)、日本Sony及南韓三星電子(Samsung Electronics)等廠商握有高市佔率，惟Hoya計畫以未擁有感測器、鏡頭技術的手機廠為重心積極開拓顧客。
