日職樂天金鷹隊王牌投手田中將大透過新入札制度赴美，10日白襪隊宣布已經跟他有了初步接觸。

白襪隊高層Ken Williams，總經理Rick Hahn以及總教練Robin Ventura都到洛杉磯特地見田中。

Rick Hahn表示：「我們的面談很自然，這是一個機會讓我們去坐下來好好跟田中談談，並討論他的潛力是如何適合我們白襪隊的願景，以及接下來的數年。」

道奇隊總經理Ned Colletti也跟田中將大的經紀人有所連絡，他說：「這對球員來說是個重大的決定，我們將會持續跟他對話，也看之後的發展會如何。」

現在不管是紐約洋基隊、道奇、天使、小熊、白襪、水手、響尾蛇、遊騎兵、費城人、運動家還有太空人隊都想要獲得田中。

這場「田中爭奪戰」已經於全美持續上映中。
