今(25)日凌晨5時左右，一輛大貨車直接撞進總統府內，卡在階梯上，造成總統府防彈門損傷，駕駛昏迷送醫。由於此處正是正副總統等官員下車的地方，引發嚴重維安問題關切。事實上，馬英九總統上任以來，已經發生多起民眾駕車衝撞總統府事件。

2011年8月間，一名男子疑因太過疲累，行經總統府大門前，欲左轉重慶南路時，因車速過快，煞車不及，失控撞擊總統府前的護欄及阻車柱。

2011年9月28日，一名71歲男子因為不滿漁筏照證核發問題，駕駛插滿抗議旗幟與陳情書的發財車，在總統府前方自焚，造成60%面積遭三度灼傷。

2000~2008年民進黨政府執政期間也發生多起民眾駕車衝撞事件，但是大多為酒駕而失控撞上。
