提起國外社交網站，大家第一個想到的就是Facebook。Facebook下(2)月4日踏入10周年之際，但美國兩名學者預計到年底，Facebook用戶人數會縮減20%，在明(2015)年至2017年間甚至會比高峰期暴跌多達80%。

據香港《文匯報》報導，這兩名學者利用疾病模型『SIR』作比較後發表報告，稱它的增長趨勢猶如傳染病，在人們之間傳播，當他們對Facebook失去興趣時，就像是產生對疾病的免疫力，不再被它吸引。兩人根據谷歌按照網民搜尋『Facebook』一詞次數製作的圖表，他們發現搜索次數在前年12月達高峰，此後開始回落。

據稱，Facebook在谷歌的搜尋次數下降，原因之一是8.7億用戶每月使用智慧手機的Facebook程式直接登入。

據報導，Facebook財務總監埃貝斯曼早前向分析員承認，之前3個月的每日用戶數量確實有所下跌。
